In this week's lesson, Amy talks you through how to make a dripping paint “action” painting in the style of American painter, Jackson Pollock. We will first be looking at the work of Jackson Pollock as you learn about Abstract Expressionism and Action Painting. You will then create an “action” painting using paint, paper and your imagination!

You will need:

  • Heavy paper or primed canvas
  • Paint
  • Brushes, recyclable cups/empty yoghurt cartons for pouring paint
  • A space where you can get messy - preferably outdoors!
  • Painting smocks or rubbish bags with arm and head holes cut in
  • A bucket of water to make clean up easier
  • Old towels
